We had a manatee float by us for a long time testerday. Manatees are slow and not very bright. The result in many cases is injury from boat props, as can be seen from this photo. Happens every day.
Poor manatee! And really...that isn't fair calling them "not very bright". Slow for sure. But have you actually talked to a manatee before? My guess is that your average manatee is no less bright than your average human. Although I will admit to them being less well read (seeing as there aren't many bookstores where the Manatees live).
