Heavy Rain in the Middle of Dry Season
Its been raining heavily for two days, but no one is complaining except the tourists who are paying hundreds of dollars per day for warmth and sunshine. The thunderstorms last night were a real light and sound show. South Florida, actually almost all of Florida, is in a deep drought. Lake Ocachoobee's water level is so low that it is impassable to most boats except very shallow draft skiffs. Unfortunately a lot more rain is needed and its not likely to come until the rainey season, hopefully, begins in May.

We are getting some rain today (started yesterday and some overnight). We really need it too. There are all sorts of dire predictions for an even worse drought this summer than last. Raleigh is basically banning all "unnecessary" water use starting now. Car washes are going to have to be "certified" to stay open and I am willing to bet that there will be no lawn watering this summer at all. We are talking about buying a rain barrel so that we can keep the trees alive. I am ok with the grass dying but not the trees if I can help it. Really though, as long as I am still allowed to flush the toilet, then I am ok...
good morning! Flight prices are up again...grr! We want to come and we'll keep looking...hopefully flights will come back down. :)
